About us
The directors of Hope North East originate from the Boro Drugs Forum, a service user support group that helps individuals with drug and alcohol issues. The forum act as a voice for service users within Middlesbrough, developing drug and alcohol services alongside the Safer Middlesbrough Partnership. The HNE directors Lawrie Duffy and Dave Conlon were the core members of the Boro Drugs Forum and spent many years developing the service to what it is today. In realising their passion and commitment the Safer Middlesbrough Partnership gave their support in the training and setting up of the Hope North East Organisation. The Directors, staff and many of the volunteers have had addiction issues in the past, with support, motivation and a focus on the causes of addiction are in recovery. We understand that recovery is a forward journey that comes from within and not from what you are addicted too. When one is working daily to better oneself in a good, positive manner you will be a pillar or role model of society. HNE is an abstinence based service, the journey of recovery can be a long one with many stages. We work with any individual on that road or who has the desire to stop. Hope North East is a registered Community Interest Company (C.I.C) limited by guarantee. We are always looking to develop and move forward in giving individuals the best support and treatment for the needs of their recovery.
